Laser Hair Removal More Popular and Affordable Than Ever
p>Each year, the ASPS reports on U.S. cosmetic surgery trends. In 2006, the number of aesthetic treatments has more than quadrupled since 1997, with over 11 million procedures performed. Laser hair removal was the second most popular procedure after Botox, with 1.5 million treatments during the year. That’s a 16% increase from 2005. Part of the reason for laser hair removal’s popularity of may be its long lasting effects: most equipment has been FDA cleared for "permanent hair reduction," meaning that over time, less hair will regrow in treated areas. While the first machines were slow, taking several hours to treat a large body area like the legs or back, newer equipment is capable of treating small areas in minutes and large areas in under an hour. Patient comfort has also improved. Modern cooling technology keeps discomfort to a minimum, with most patients saying they hardly feel treatment at all. Because of that, laser hair removal has become particularly popular among men seeking quick, long lasting hair removal on the back, chest, shoulders, and other areas.
